Crown, the Cortina and the Value Proposition

My first sales job was with an American company called Crown Lift Trucks. I remember the feeling of elation when I got the job, for it was without doubt the best job in the world. Who could ever want for more?During my induction course at Crown’s UK offices in Wokingham, I remember being taught the features and benefits of the product range, the maintenance contract…See More

Twitter, engage, dont enrage

Twitter. Is it a pointless fad or effective communication tool for the workplace? Twitter divides peoples opinions about the use of social media in the workplace. Here is my own view on how business can make the most of Twitter. Love it or hate it, Twitter has become some of a social media phenomenon. The idea of telling the world what you had for breakfast might fill you with horror, but there’s no denying that any channel that helps you identify emerging trends and engage with huge numbers of…See More

Forecasting

One month from today you will meet a tall, dark, handsome stranger and they will hand you an order for one hundred units at a value of €1m. If we all had a crystal ball wouldn’t forecasting be so much easier?

Forecasting is saying what you expect to happen and when you expect it to happen, it’s predicting the future. Forecasts and predictions of the future are found everywhere we look, weather, economic, traffic, gambling, astrology and most of all in sales teams

Hi John, thanks for your offer. I guess the way you could help (as your blogs are great) is in writing something that might invite the UK contingent to contribute. I can't think of what that might be right now - perhaps some war stories would be fun? Battles that we won or lost that we learned the most from. What do you think?

Hi John, I just started a group under the groups tab called UK Sales Professionals which should be visible in a day or so once it’s been approved. I don’t know how this site is going to evolve yet but I feel it has a lot of potential and a group for the UK felt like a good move. Roz
